Luke Skywalker at Galaxy’s Edge

Hey Disney Vacationers! Disney Parks has released a short video that points to the arrival of Luke Skywalker at Galaxy’s Edge. The teaser features a glimpse of Luke Skywalker standing in Galaxy’s Edge, followed by hashtags “#Disneyland” and “#SeasonOfTheForce.” These details suggest that Luke Skywalker’s appearance might be exclusive to Disneyland and may happen during the Season of the Force event. This event runs from March 28 to May 11, 2025, at Disneyland. Here is the teaser video.

Disney Confirms Legacy Characters

In May 2022, Disney revealed that both “legacy characters and original characters” would visit Galaxy’s Edge. This announcement dropped the strict timeline that once guided the story of the land. When Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opened, it was set between Episodes 8 and 9 of the Star Wars saga. Today, Disney has changed that approach. Galaxy’s Edge now serves as a stage for many eras from Star Wars history.

How the Timeline Shift Works

Disney says guests will soon see characters and stories from thousands of years of Batuu’s past. Yet, the plan is to keep characters separated if they do not belong in the same era. This means we might see older or newer figures appearing, but they will not meet characters they have no place meeting.

Quote from Scott Trowbridge, Imagineer

“We are committed to the long history of Batuu and the collection of amazing characters who inhabit the outpost including our legacy characters and original characters and know that we will feel the same about new and future characters from the ever-expanding galaxy of Star Wars storytelling. While we as visitors may be able to experience different stories throughout Star Wars history, the characters on Batuu can not. They will remain in their specific story and timeline and won’t intersect with other characters or stories that would not be appropriate for them.” – Scott Trowbridge, Imagineer

Younger Luke Skywalker at Galaxy’s Edge

Luke Skywalker is part of the classic trilogy and also appears in Episodes 7, 8, and 9 (with a cameo in Episode 9 as a Force ghost). Batuu is set between Episodes 8 and 9, which suggests Luke could show up in a form connected to that time. Yet, Disney’s teaser video shows a younger Luke Skywalker, one closer to his original trilogy version. Fans are curious how Disney will blend that version into the land.

Could We See Luke Skywalker at Disney World?

Disney has not confirmed if Hollywood Studios in Florida will welcome Luke Skywalker at Galaxy’s Edge. This remains a possibility and even more feasible now that Disney’s World version is no longer tied to the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser. One of the main reasons Disney World’s version of Galaxy’s Edge was more strict with the timeline was due to the Starcruiser storyline. Since the closure of the Starcruiser, we’ve seen Disney be more flexible in Disney World’s version with the addition of Mando and Grogu as an example.

Disney’s Strategy for More Entertainment

Observers think Disney will expand live shows, meet-and-greet experiences, and special activities in response to Epic Universe. Universal’s Epic Universe is set to open on May 22, 2025, and Disney may want to draw extra attention to its parks during that period. Adding Luke Skywalker at Galaxy’s Edge would fit with this plan. Disney seems to be boosting its entertainment offerings to keep guests excited, but official details have not been released yet.

Stay Tuned for More Info

Disney promises more information soon. The idea of Luke Skywalker at Galaxy’s Edge has excited Star Wars fans, and the Season of the Force event window suggests some big plans ahead. Keep an eye out for updates, and be ready to see if Luke Skywalker will appear at Disneyland, Walt Disney World, or both.
