Name of Pirates of the Caribbean Lounge

Hey Disney Vacationers! Big news — we finally have a name for the Pirates of the Caribbean-themed lounge coming to Magic Kingdom. And if you’re like me and live for Disney details, you’re going to want to grab your spyglass and dive into this one.

It’s Official: The Lounge Is Called The Beak and Barrel

Disney has confirmed that the new Pirates of the Caribbean lounge will be called The Beak and Barrel. It’s expected to open in late 2025 and will be located in Adventureland at Magic Kingdom. This is a major milestone for the park — The Beak and Barrel will be the first-ever dedicated lounge at Magic Kingdom, and it looks like it’s shaping up to be something truly special.

Let’s break down what we know so far.

Who’s Running the Place? Meet Captain Merry and Rummy

The Beak and Barrel was founded by Captain Meridian “Merry” Goldwyn, a retired pirate rumrunner with a taste for the high seas and high spirits. She’s joined by her feisty feathered first mate, Rummy — a talking bird with a ton of personality.

If Rummy looks familiar, it’s because he’s a nod to the original Barker Bird who used to sit outside the entrance of the Pirates of the Caribbean ride. That’s right, Disney deep cuts are alive and well here. Rummy is now posted at the bar, keeping watch, leading toasts, and sharing old tales from their days on the ocean.

This is similar nod as DJ-Rex at Oga’s Cantina. Rex was originally the pilot on Star Tours, until he was replaced by C3PO.

The Mess – A Pirate Hall Built for Stories and Spirits

At the heart of the lounge is The Mess, the largest room in the building. It used to be the mess hall for Spanish soldiers, but now it’s pirate territory. Think long tables, candlelight, and pirate banter.

One wall features a massive bar built from the wreckage of a cursed ship. And right in the middle of it all? A skull-shaped stern filled with grog and specialty brews. Keep an eye out for the Enchanted Rum Bottle, gifted to Captain Merry by none other than Tia Dalma. It’s rumored to be the source of the lounge’s magical drinks.

Also—Rummy may wander the bar, chatting up guests and causing just enough trouble to keep things lively.

The Captains’ Quarters – For Pirates with a Taste for the Finer Things

There’s also a more intimate space called the Captains’ Quarters, formerly the room of the Spanish Comandante. While the decor once looked noble and refined, pirates have definitely left their mark — think slash marks in paintings and scorch marks on the walls.

Above the fireplace sits a collection of five miniature ships in glass bottles. Legend says they represent pirate crews from around the globe who united to fight against tyranny. And yes, the bottles might actually move. You’ve been warned.

Magic Kingdom’s First Lounge: Why This Is a Big Deal

Unlike EPCOT or Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Magic Kingdom has never had a lounge like this. In fact, alcohol was only introduced to the park in recent years — and only in table-service restaurants. The Beak and Barrel marks a slow but significant shift in that trend.

If you’ve ever been to Oga’s Cantina at Hollywood Studios or Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, this feels like Disney’s next evolution of immersive, story-based bar experiences.

It’s a lounge more focused on deep immersive storytelling, where animatronics, theatrics, and environment take center stage over the drinks. But, don’t get wrong the drinks are sure to be rum-tastic as well!

What to Expect: Reservations, Time Limits, and Drink Rules?

Now, this next part isn’t confirmed yet — but based on what Disney’s done before at places like Oga’s Cantina, here’s what I think we’ll see:

  • Advance reservations will likely be required. This isn’t going to be a walk-up spot, especially during peak season.
  • Visit time will probably be capped at 45 to 60 minutes per party to keep things moving.
  • Drink limits could be set at two drinks per person, similar to the policy at Oga’s.

Again, none of this is official yet, but if Disney follows their current lounge model, it wouldn’t be surprising.

Immersive Storytelling Fans, This One’s for You

Disney went all-in on theming here — from the backstory of Captain Merry to the return of Rummy, to magical rum bottles and battling ships in bottles. If you’re the kind of guest who lives for the tiny details, this place will be your jam.

There’s also room to hope that live interactions or pirate show moments will be part of the experience. (most likely performed by the “crew”, i.e., your servers and bartenders) Nothing’s been announced yet, but this lounge is clearly designed to bring the Pirates vibe to life in more ways than just the decor.

Final Thoughts

The Beak and Barrel isn’t just another lounge — it’s a big change for the Magic Kingdom, as the first lounge. But it’s rooted in classic Disney storytelling, connected to the history of the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction, and brings something totally new to the park. Whether you’re there for the grog, the atmosphere, or just to meet Rummy, it looks like this lounge is going to be worth the hype.

As more details come out, I’ll keep this guide updated — especially once we know about menu items, reservation policies, or interactive surprises.
