Island Tower Opening Date: A New Chapter Begins
Mark your calendars! The Island Tower is set to welcome its first guests right in time for the holiday season of 2024. Imagine celebrating the festive period surrounded by the art and ambiance of the Polynesian isles—truly a dream come true for Disney fans and travelers alike. Recently DVC shared the first look at the new lobby, and now we get our first look at the rooms designs.
A Room for Every Explorer
The Island Tower will feature a variety of room options, each infused with unique elements of Polynesian culture and the timeless charm of Disney storytelling:
- Duo Studios for Couples: Perfect for pairs, these studios are inspired by the celestial navigation techniques of ancient wayfinders. Expect airy interiors and star-studded decor that promise a romantic and restful stay.
- Deluxe Studios for Families of Four: Ideal for small families, these studios boast a fresh layout with a cozy seating area and kitchenette—now featuring a dishwasher for the first time in Disney Vacation Club history.
- One- & Two-Bedroom Villas: Larger families and groups will find the one- and two-bedroom villas perfect for spreading out. These villas are a tribute to the voyager’s journey across land and sea, complete with full-size kitchen appliances, dining areas, and outdoor patios.
- Exclusive Two-Bedroom Penthouse Villas: Elevate your vacation with a stay in one of the new penthouse villas. Sleeping up to eight guests, these villas offer stunning views of the Seven Seas Lagoon and Magic Kingdom Park, alongside luxurious interiors themed after the harmony of water and island landscapes.
Sustainable Luxury
Staying true to Disney’s 2030 environmental goals, the Island Tower integrates sustainable practices into its luxurious design. Guest rooms feature eco-friendly elements, such as plush rugs made from recycled plastic bottles and dishwashers that help minimize the use of disposable utensils. These thoughtful touches not only enhance comfort but also reflect Disney’s commitment to sustainability. Additional sustainable practices include:
- Optimized Building Utilities: The heating and cooling systems in the tower are optimized for energy efficiency, reducing overall energy consumption.
- Energy-Efficient Lighting and Appliances: All lighting fixtures and appliances within the tower are selected based on their energy efficiency ratings, which helps to significantly cut down on electricity use.
- All-Electric Kitchen: A pioneering move in Disney resorts, the Island Tower’s restaurant will feature the first all-electric kitchen at Walt Disney World, aiming to reduce fossil fuel use and enhance energy efficiency.
- Construction Innovation: Much like the original buildings of Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort and Disney’s Contemporary Resort in the 1970s, the Island Tower is being constructed using pre-fabrication techniques. This method not only speeds up the building process but also substantially decreases construction waste.
Disney estimates that with these green initiatives, the Island Tower will use approximately 30 percent less energy compared to a similar-sized resort. This significant reduction is a step forward in Disney’s journey towards its environmental goals, showcasing a commitment to not only entertain but also preserve the world for future generations.
