Polynesian Island Tower Point Sales and More: Everything You Need to Know
Hey Disney Vacationer Club Members and future members! The Disney Vacation Club (DVC) has just announced an exciting new addition to the family—the Polynesian Island Tower. If you’re thinking about buying points for this new location, you’re going to want to hear all the details. Let’s break down everything you need to know about the Island Tower point sales, including booking dates, point charts, and the official opening date.
Sales Launch: October 1, 2024
Mark your calendars! Sales for Island Tower points will officially kick off on October 1, 2024 for current DVC members. This is your first chance to get in on the newest addition to Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows. The base price is set at $225 per point, which aligns with other Disney resorts like the Riviera Resort and The Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort.
While DVC is likely to offer promotional discounts, the details won’t be shared until the sales launch on October 1st. So keep an eye out for those special offers when they become available.
Opening Date: December 17, 2024
Fast forward to the grand opening: the Island Tower is set to make its debut on December 17, 2024. That’s just 2.5 months after the sales launch, giving you a short window to make your purchase and get your reservations in place.
Booking Dates for DVC Members and New Buyers
Booking at the Island Tower is going to roll out in phases. Here’s the breakdown:
- Existing Members: If you’re an existing DVC member looking to add points to your portfolio, you’ll get the first crack at reservations. The early booking window opens on October 15, 2024. The DVC promotional material mentions that members who add on can take advantage of this early booking, but the exact process on how this will be administered is yet to be clarified.
- First-Time DVC Buyers: New to the Disney Vacation Club? No problem! You can purchase ownership in the Polynesian Villas starting on October 29, 2024, with reservations opening up for you on November 5, 2024.
- Other DVC Members: If you own points at other DVC Home resorts, you can start making reservations at Island Tower beginning November 19, 2024. This is subject to the standard 7-month booking window and any resale restrictions that may apply to your points.
A Bit of History: A Re-launch of Sales at the Polynesian
For those who’ve been following the DVC journey, this isn’t the first time points are being sold at the Polynesian. The original DVC component of the resort opened back on April 1, 2015, and it hit “sold out” status in December 2017. At that time, the base price saw a significant increase of 25%, and sales incentives were removed.
Just like the original Polynesian DVC units, the new Island Tower owners will share the same ending date of January 31, 2066. So if you’re looking to get in on this, early buyers will enjoy about 41 years of ownership. This is the same direction DVC went with the expansion of the Grand Floridian Resort and Spa DVC rooms.
Limited Initial Inventory
Initially, room inventory at the Island Tower is going to be tight. The first declaration includes only 40 rooms, so if you’re planning to book with DVC points, this is the current number you’ll be competing for. Disney plans to gradually add more rooms to the condo association as sales progress. Until those rooms are added, Disney can sell the excess rooms to cash guests.
In total, Island Tower will feature 222 villas, but if you count the lockoff Two Bedroom villas separately, that’s a maximum of 268 rooms. So, while the current inventory is limited, there’s plenty more on the horizon as the building fully opens up.
Point Charts and Room Types
With the Island Tower opening just around the corner, Disney has released the point values for the rooms located in this new addition. Here’s a quick rundown of what to expect:
Room Types:
- Duo Studio
- Deluxe Studio
- One Bedroom
- Two Bedroom
- Two Bedroom Penthouse Villas

Views :
Rooms are grouped into four different views:
- Theme Park: Includes at least a partial view of Magic Kingdom Park.
- Premium: Includes at least partial views of the Seven Seas Lagoon.
- Preferred: Includes at least a partial view of lakes, pools, or golf courses.
- Standard: Overlooks other areas of the resort such as gardens or parking areas.
An important note for families: While the Deluxe Studio rooms with Standard and Preferred views are priced the same at both the longhouses and Island Tower, the capacity differs. Longhouse rooms can sleep up to 5 guests, while Island Tower rooms cap at 4 guests.
What This Means for You
If you’ve been waiting for a chance to buy into the Polynesian DVC resort, now is the time. The Island Tower addition not only brings a fresh set of accommodations but also offers a variety of room options catering to different tastes and ways to use your points. Whether you’re an existing DVC member or a newcomer to the club, there’s an opportunity to secure your spot in this iconic Disney resort.
With the launch date approaching fast, it’s a good idea to mark those key dates and stay tuned for any promotional discounts. The combination of exclusive views, room types, and limited initial availability makes this an exciting and potentially competitive sales launch.
