Hey Disney Vacationers! It’s looking like Disney’s Lakeshore Lodge is set to introduce an expansive pool area, offering guests a mix of relaxation and family-friendly water activities. With a feature pool, a leisure pool, and a lazy river, this new Disney Vacation Club (DVC) resort is shaping up to be one of the most exciting pool destinations at Walt Disney World. Let’s take a look at the potential Disney’s Lakeshore Lodge pool area.
Disney’s Lakeshore Lodge Pool Features
The pool complex at Lakeshore Lodge is expected to include:
- Feature Pool: A large, zero-entry pool designed for easy access.
- Lazy River: Lakeshore Lodge will be only the second Walt Disney World Resort to offer this feature, following Yacht & Beach Club’s Storm-a-long Bay.
- Water Slides: Adding excitement for kids and adults alike.
- Splash Pad: A dedicated play area for younger guests.
- Leisure Pool: A quieter space for relaxation, away from the main attractions.
- Scenic Views: Positioned near Bay Lake, the pool area will offer picturesque waterfront scenery.
Why Disney May Be Expanding the Pool Complex
A larger pool area at Lakeshore Lodge could be due to multiple factors. One possibility is the absorption of the DVC Fort Wilderness Cabins into Lakeshore Lodge. Currently, these cabins do not have a dedicated DVC pool, making them the only DVC property without one. If integrated into the new resort, the pool complex would accommodate both sets of guests, while potentially helping to balance annual dues. The Fort Wilderness Cabins currently have the highest dues of any DVC property at Walt Disney World, which may be impacting new sales.
Another reason for an expanded pool area is Disney’s tradition of honoring its history. Lakeshore Lodge is being built on the site of River Country, Disney’s first water park. The company often includes nods to past attractions in new projects, such as Mr. Toad handing over the keys to Owl in The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, referencing the former Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride. A more elaborate water complex could serve as a tribute to River Country’s legacy.
Disney’s Official Announcement and Opening Timeline
Disney officially announced Disney’s Lakeshore Lodge in November 2024. The resort is scheduled to open in 2027. It will be built on the same site as the previously announced Reflections—A Disney Lakeside Lodge, which was canceled in 2020.
The resort’s design is inspired by nature and its influence on Disney animation, blending rustic elegance with Disney storytelling. It will be located between Disney’s Wilderness Lodge and Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort along Bay Lake.
What’s Next for Disney’s Lakeshore Lodge Pool?
While Disney has not confirmed all the details about the pool complex, construction is moving forward. More official information is expected in the coming months.
For Disney Vacation Club members and resort guests, Disney’s Lakeshore Lodge pool is shaping up to be a major attraction, offering a mix of nostalgia, luxury, and family-friendly fun.
