Swan and Dolphin Expansion: What You Need to Know About the $275 Million Transformation

Hey Disney Vacationers! The Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort just dropped major news: a $275 million transformation, including a massive expansion and upgrade in both event space and guest rooms. If you’ve been waiting for a shake up in Orlando the convention scene, this might be it. Here’s what’s coming as part of the Disney Swan and Dolphin expansion.
The Big Picture: Swan and Dolphin’s $275 Million Transformation
The Swan and Dolphin’s biggest-ever expansion focuses on a new addition of 120,000 square feet of event space, transforming the property into a true giant in the meeting world. Once completed, the combined space across the Swan, Dolphin, and Swan Reserve will total a whopping 469,000 square feet. To put that into perspective, this expansion means the resort will offer one of the largest hotel event spaces in the U.S.
“We look forward to delivering such a major transformation for our customers. These enhancements will be a great addition to our iconic and award-winning operation,” said Sean Verney, Area General Manager. “It positions our property to remain at the forefront of meeting and convention venues globally.”

Meeting Space Expansion: More Room, More Possibilities
In its first major expansion since 2003, the Walt Disney World Dolphin is set to add a new two-story annex. Here’s what’s coming:
- Ground Level: This level offers 41,000 square feet of multi-purpose space, with an additional 24,000 square feet of pre-function space.
- Second Floor Ballroom: A stunning, divisible ballroom space covering 41,000 square feet with a 14,000 square-foot pre-function foyer.
The design is also getting a serious upgrade. An airy atrium greets guests, bringing in natural light through floor-to-ceiling windows, while a dramatic staircase and two-story chandelier bring a modern twist to the classic Michael Graves aesthetic. Water themes and warm wooden touches round out the look, creating an ambiance perfect for networking and relaxation.
Additional tech and power infrastructure will be installed to support large-scale, outdoor events—ideal for organizations wanting flexible, eco-friendly expansion options. Construction begins in November, with the expansion expected to wrap up by late summer 2026.

Event Space Refresh: A New Look for the Original Meeting Halls
While the new annex is the big news, Swan and Dolphin is also refreshing its existing 333,000 square feet of event space. Ballrooms, air walls, corridors, and breakout rooms have been updated with fresh tones of white, blue, and gray, accented by natural wood textures that stay true to the property’s water theme. The Walt Disney World Dolphin side has already completed its upgrades, while enhancements on the Walt Disney World Swan will wrap up by summer 2025.

Guest Room Overhaul: A Whole New Swan Experience
With the Swan Reserve’s introduction of 349 luxury guest rooms in 2021, it was only a matter of time before the original Swan got a refresh. All guest rooms in the Swan are receiving an upgrade, complete with luxury tile flooring and chic new decor that align with the Swan and Dolphin’s elevated aesthetic. The remodel is set for completion in 2024, so guests can look forward to a fresh experience soon.
Swan and Dolphin’s Commitment to Innovation and Quality
This $275 million transformation isn’t just a facelift; it’s the Swan and Dolphin’s latest investment in staying ahead of industry standards and delivering top-notch experiences for guests and meeting planners alike. The Swan and Dolphin expansion will allow the property to compete with the world’s largest convention venues, all while keeping the iconic, Disney-inspired charm that sets it apart. As well as continue to host major conferences from the likes of Gartner, and the American Medical Association.
If you’re planning a large event or just want a top-tier Disney experience, the Swan and Dolphin’s transformation is definitely something to watch. With more space, modernized guest rooms, and tech enhancements, this is a place that’s ready to make waves.
