EPCOT DiveQuest Experience

Hey Disney Vacationers! If you’re a certified diver and you’re heading to Disney World, stop what you’re doing. The EPCOT DiveQuest experience is officially back—and it’s one of the most unique things you can do on Disney property.

Let’s break down exactly what this is, how to book it, what to expect, and whether it’s worth the price.

What Is the EPCOT DiveQuest Experience?

EPCOT DiveQuest is a two-hour scuba diving adventure inside the 5.7-million-gallon saltwater aquarium at The Seas with Nemo & Friends Pavilion. You’ll dive with over 2,000 aquatic animals, including sea turtles, reef fish, stingrays, and sharks.

This isn’t just a dip in the tank. It’s a full backstage experience that includes:

  • A behind-the-scenes tour of the aquarium
  • About 40 minutes of dive time in crystal-clear water
  • Full gear provided (shorty wetsuits, tanks, fins—all of it)
  • The chance to wave at guests on the other side of the glass

That last part? It’s gold. The aquarium is visible from the pavilion, so you’ll literally be diving into the view of park guests. It’s surreal.

Quick note: You must be Open Water SCUBA certified to participate.

When Is DiveQuest Available?

The experience officially returns on May 1st after a closure that began in late October due to construction inside the Seas Pavilion.

You can now book reservations for Thursday through Monday. It costs $229 to $249 per person, with discounts for Annual Passholders and select guest types.

Spots are limited, so don’t wait. Book through the My Disney Experience app or Disney’s website.

You can also try for same-day availability, but walk-ins are rare.

Is EPCOT DiveQuest Worth It?

This one’s personal for me.

Growing up, my dad—a lifelong diver—did DiveQuest multiple times. He always came back talking about how wild it was to wave at kids through the glass, like some kind of underwater celebrity.

One time, Disney gave him a VHS tape of the whole experience. There was a scene where he popped into the air bubble, looked into the camera, and said “Hi Nathan!” I’ll never forget seeing that.

So yeah, if someone in your family loves diving—or you do—this is an easy “yes.” You’re not going to find another scuba diving at EPCOT experience like this anywhere else.

How to Book EPCOT DiveQuest

Booking is simple:

  1. Go to the My Disney Experience app or visit the official Disney World website.
  2. Search for EPCOT Seas Adventures – DiveQuest.
  3. Select your date and time.
  4. Pay in full and get confirmation.

Reminder: You need valid EPCOT admission and a park reservation for the same day.

Who Can Do DiveQuest?

Here’s the quick list of requirements:

  • You must be Open Water SCUBA certified.
  • You must be 10 years or older.
  • Divers under 16 must be with a paying adult.
  • You must be in good health. Disney lists high blood pressure, heart or neck problems, and motion sickness as risks.
  • Expectant mothers can’t participate.
  • You’ll need to transfer from a scooter or ECV into a wheelchair and then into the water.

Want to watch but not dive? Family and friends can view your dive from the second floor viewing tunnel inside The Seas pavilion—about 40 minutes after the tour starts.

What You’ll Need (and What’s Provided)

  • Bring a swimsuit.
  • You may bring your own dive mask, but all other gear is provided.
  • Lockers, towels, shampoo, and hair dryers are included.
  • Wetsuits are available in sizes XS to 7X (men and women).
  • No cameras, phones, or jewelry are allowed backstage or in the tank.
  • Check in at Guest Relations near the EPCOT entrance 15 minutes before your tour time.

Cancellation policy? You’ll be charged in full if you cancel within 24 hours or no-show.

DiveQuest Disney Experience: What Makes It Special?

You’re diving in one of the world’s largest man-made ocean environments. There are no currents. The water is warm and clear. You get stunning views and real interaction—both with the animals and the humans watching you.

It’s basically the only place where you can:

  • Scuba dive at Disney World
  • Feel like part of the show
  • Skip dealing with waves or boat rides
  • Do something few guests even know exists

And honestly, the backstage part is just as cool. You’ll see the filtration system, how the animals are cared for, and what it takes to run a massive indoor reef.

What Other Tours Are Available at Walt Disney World?

If DiveQuest gets you excited for behind-the-scenes Disney experiences, here are a few other guided tours worth checking out:

🎯 Keys to the Kingdom – Magic Kingdom

Explore hidden areas like the Utilidors and hear insider stories about Walt’s vision for the park. Must be 16+.

🦒 Wild Africa Trek – Animal Kingdom

A private safari adventure with rope bridges and VIP views of the savanna.

🌱 Behind the Seeds – EPCOT

A walk-through tour of the greenhouses inside Living with the Land. Great for kids and families.

These tours let you see Disney in a whole new way. DiveQuest is the deepest (literally), but the others are awesome in their own right.

Final Thoughts: Should You Try EPCOT DiveQuest?

If you’re a diver, this is a no-brainer. Book it. You’ll remember it forever.

And if you’re not certified yet? This might be the reason you finally take the course. Because scuba diving at EPCOT isn’t just cool—it’s a Disney bucket list item.

Just don’t expect a VHS tape when you’re done.
