When to Book a Disney Vacation: Everything You Need to Know
Hey Disney Vacationers! Planning a trip to Disney World? If you’re wondering when to book your Disney vacation, the answer is simple: book now! In this comprehensive guide, I’ll explain why booking early is crucial, how to navigate Disney’s booking windows, and how to make the most of available discounts. Let’s dive in to when to book a Disney vacation!
Why Booking Early is Essential
Gone are the days when you could wait for a last-minute discount to snag a great deal on your Disney vacation. Now, the best strategy is to book as soon as the packages for the next year are released. Here’s why:
- Avoid Price Increases: Disney traditionally increases ticket and hotel prices in February and sometimes again in the fall. By booking early, you lock in the current prices before they go up. Waiting for a discount after a price hike won’t necessarily save you money.
- Secure the Best Deals: The initial prices are often the lowest you’ll find. The only significant discount that might save you more money is the exclusive Future Stay or Bounceback offer, available only to guests who already have a vacation booked and plan to return within 12-18 months.
- Maximize Planning Time: Booking early gives you ample time to secure dining reservations and other experiences, ensuring you get the most out of your trip.
How Far in Advance Can You Book?
The booking windows for Disney hotels and dining reservations have changed, so it’s essential to know the current rules:
Disney Hotels
Previously, you could book a Disney hotel room up to 499 days in advance. Now, you can only book dates as far in advance as Disney opens the calendar. Currently, the Disney hotel calendar is open through the end of 2024.
Disney Dining Reservations
Dining at Disney is a highlight for many visitors, and popular restaurants can fill up quickly. You can make dining reservations 60 days before your arrival. Here are some tips to help you plan:
- 60-Day Window: Exactly 60 days out, the reservation calendar opens at 6 a.m. ET for some restaurants.
- Disney Resort Guests: If you’re staying at a Disney Resort hotel, you can book dining reservations for the entire length of your stay (up to 10 nights) starting 60 days before your arrival date. This gives you a head start over non-resort guests.
Applying Discounts After Booking
Worried about missing out on discounts after you’ve booked your trip? Don’t fret! Disney allows you to apply discounts to existing reservations. Here’s how:
- Online Modifications: Go to your My Disney Experience account and select “Change/Modify Reservation” to rebook your dates with the special offer.
- Contact a Cast Member: You can also call the phone number on your reservation confirmation and speak with a Cast Member to have the discount applied.
- Disney Vacation Planner: If you work with a Disney Vacation Planner, like myself, I will automatically apply the latest discount (if applicable). Making sure you get the best possible price.
Summary
To recap, the best time to book a Disney vacation is as soon as possible. By booking early, you can lock in the current prices, secure the best deals, and maximize your planning time. Remember to take advantage of the booking windows for hotels and dining reservations to make the most of your trip. And don’t worry about missing out on discounts—Disney makes it easy to apply them after you’ve booked.
