January Events

Walt Disney World Marathon

January 8-12, 2025

Are you ready for an epic race? The Walt Disney World Marathon is back! Lace-up your running shoes for this annual 26.2-mile race that takes you through all four Disney theme parks: Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom. But that’s not all! The weekend is packed with fun events like a half marathon, a 10k, a 5K, kids races, special multi-day challenge races, and a five-day health expo. Get ready for an unforgettable experience!

Epcot International Festival of the Arts

Mid-January – Mid-February 2025

Calling all art fans! The Epcot International Festival of the Arts is a celebration of creativity and culture from around the world. Immerse yourself in Disney-inspired gallery exhibits, savor art-inspired menus at foodie experiences, and enjoy live Broadway-style entertainment. It’s a feast for the senses against the stunning backdrop of Epcot.

Additional Events During January

  • Youth Group Competitions and Exhibitions: Keep an eye out for various youth activities scheduled throughout January to March. Expect lively sports, dance, cheerleading, singing, and band performances in public areas. Some resorts, especially All-Star Resorts, might see heavy bookings, and you might experience increased noise levels. Park attractions like Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular could be used as event venues.
  • Martin Luther King, Jr. Weekend: Mark your calendar for the third weekend in January (January 15, 2024) for a possible getaway. Expect possible heavy bookings at resorts and extra crowds in all parks. Park hours might be extended with more frequent fireworks and parades.

And there’s more – the weekend features various races like the “Disney Enchanted 10k,” “Glass Slipper Challenge,” “Cinderella Royal Family 5K,” “runDisney Kids Races,” and the “Fit for a Princess Expo.”

Additional Events During February

  • Super Bowl: On February 9, 2025, get ready for the Big Game. Walt Disney World Resort might offer special activities to celebrate this sports extravaganza.
  • Valentine’s Day: Love is in the air on February 14, 2025! Look out for special meals and deals throughout Walt Disney World Resort to mark the occasion.
  • President’s Weekend: The third weekend in February (February 14-17, 2025) marks the start of late winter break for the Northeast and the early spring break season. EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival

  • Mardi Gras: It’s time to let the good times roll on March 4, 2025! Head to Disney’s Port Orleans Resort for a mini-float parade, themed golf carts, music, Disney characters, beads, and candy. Ask for parade time at the front desk for all the fun details.

The runDisney Springtime Surprise Weekend is a mystery waiting to be unraveled! Each year, it offers a completely different and fun race experience for all participants. Embrace the surprise and join in for a memorable run.

  • Animal Kingdom’s Birthday: On April 22, 2024, celebrate the park’s 26th birthday at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. The park will be buzzing with Earth Day celebrations.

  • May the Fourth: On May 4, 2024, calling all Star Wars fans, celebrate the unofficial Star Wars holiday at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. There will be specialized merchandise and unique events taking place in Galaxy’s Edge.

  • School Summer Break: Time varies across the country, but it generally occurs from the last week of May until mid-August. Families with school-age children will be visiting Walt Disney World in larger numbers, resulting in heavy bookings at resorts and longer lines in parks and restaurants. Enjoy longer park hours with more frequent scheduling of fireworks, parades, and shows.
  • Gay Days: May 30-June 3, 2024. This non-Disney sponsored event happens yearly in June, with actual dates varying annually. Enjoy public and private events at Disney and other Orlando locations. Keep an eye out for scheduled events in specific Walt Disney World parks on particular days. There might be extra crowds in specific parks each day, and some theme parks or water parks might close early for private parties.
  • Father’s Day: June 16, 2024. Treat Dad to a special meal at select Disney restaurants!

July Events

Independence Day

When: July 4, 2024

Celebrate Independence Day at Walt Disney World with a spectacular choice of fireworks shows at several theme parks. It’s a fantastic way to enjoy the holiday with your loved ones. Expect heavy crowds in all parks, except for the Animal Kingdom. Enjoy longer park hours and special firework shows.

Epcot International Food and Wine Festival

When: July 27 though November 18, 2023

For all the foodies out there, this is the event you don’t want to miss. Savor fine wines and delectable cuisine at Marketplace Food booths during the EPCOT International Food and Wine Festival. It’s a gastronomic adventure! Be prepared for extra crowds at EPCOT, especially throughout World Showcase, mostly on weekends. There might be some late evening traffic impact near and around EPCOT during the festival.

  • School Summer Break: Time varies across the country, but it generally occurs from the second week in June until mid-August. Families with school-age children will be visiting Walt Disney World in larger numbers, leading to heavy bookings at resorts and longer lines in parks and restaurants. Enjoy longer park hours with more frequent scheduling of fireworks, parades, and shows.
  • Bastille Day: July 14, 2023. Join in on the annual special family and kids’ activities at the France Pavilion in EPCOT.

August Events

Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party

When: Mid-August – October 31, 2023

Calling all Halloween enthusiasts! Adults and children can trick or treat their way through the Magic Kingdom while experiencing Halloween magic throughout the park. Disney characters, special parades, and fireworks await you. Guests of all ages are encouraged to dress up in their favorite Halloween costumes. This is a special ticketed event held on select nights. The Magic Kingdom may close early for Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, which can result in lesser crowds on party days. Guests with event tickets can enter the park as early as 4 p.m.

Epcot International Food and Wine Festival

When: July 27 though November 18, 2023

Keep an eye out for the filming of ABC Holiday Specials at Walt Disney World! Be prepared for larger crowds during recording times, and some shows and parades may be canceled temporarily. Don’t worry; the magic will resume once filming is complete!

Additional Events During November

  • Jersey Week – First or Second Week in November: New Jersey Teachers Convention is held during this time, and schools in the state are out of session. Many Jersey families choose to vacation at Walt Disney World during this period, so expect extra crowds at all parks.
  • Dapper Day Fall Soiree – Check back for dates: Get ready to dress to impress at Dapper Day Fall Soiree! Inspired by vintage Disney park designer’s illustrations, this unofficial event invites you to don elegant fashions from vintage-inspired to contemporary chic and enjoy a day at EPCOT with other stylish guests. Have a blast!
  • Thanksgiving – November 23, 2023: Celebrate Thanksgiving at Walt Disney World! Many restaurants offer special menus for the holiday. Expect extremely high crowd levels through the holiday weekend, especially at the Magic Kingdom. Additionally, sit-down restaurants tend to have high demand.

If you’re planning to visit during this time, make sure to secure your reservations in advance, as resort prices will be at their peak.

New Year’s Eve – Ring in the New Year with Disney Magic

Ready to welcome the New Year in style? Walt Disney World has got you covered! From thrilling celebrations in the theme parks to upscale dining experiences and dancing at Disney’s BoardWalk, you can choose how you want to ring in the New Year. Keep in mind that many of these festivities are open to the public, while some may require a ticket for entry. Get ready for extended park hours and spectacular fireworks displays!
