A New Harry Potter Wand Experience at Universal Orlando?
Hey there, Harry Potter fans! I’ve got some exciting news to share. Thanks to the sleuthing of Alicia Stella, new permits have surfaced, revealing that the Wizarding World at Universal Orlando Resort is gearing up for a transformation. Get ready to embark on a magical journey as I dive into the latest updates about a new Harry Potter wand experience coming to Hogsmeade, Diagon Alley, and the upcoming Ministry of Magic at Epic Universe.
Magical Makeovers and New Wand Adventures
The Wizarding World is abuzz with activity as both Hogsmeade at Islands of Adventure and Diagon Alley in Universal Studios Florida are undergoing exciting updates. Work walls spotted around these areas are not just for show – they’re hiding the development of what appears to be a new interactive wand experience and enhancements to the existing ones based on the recently filed permits. Yes, you heard that right – your favorite wand spots are getting a “magical” upgrade!
The Buzz About the New Interactive Wands
But wait, there’s more! Rumors are swirling about the debut of new and improved interactive wands, expected to launch ahead of the Epic Universe opening. Imagine wands with haptic feedback, a light at the tip, and – here’s the kicker – connectivity to the official Universal Orlando app. This means not only will you be casting spells in the park, but you’ll also be able to track your magical journey and unlock new challenges, much like the Power Up Bands used in Super Nintendo World.
Dueling Dummies and Mysterious Updates in Knockturn Alley
Among the permits filed, one intriguing name stands out: “DUELING DUMMIES.” This new experience in Hogsmeade hints at wand duels and interactive puppetry, adding a whole new layer of excitement. Over in Diagon Alley, Knockturn Alley is shrouded in mystery with work walls hinting at new wand effects. Could we be practicing our Patronus charms against a Dementor effect soon?
A Note of Caution: It’s All Still a Rumor
As much as I’m bubbling with excitement, remember that these details are still in the realm of rumor. According to Jim Hill of Jim Hill Media, the new Harry Potter World coming to Epic Universe is expected to have an updated version of the wand experience. So, in theory, it would make sense for Universal to update the existing experiences for both continuity of experience, as well as testing.
It’s rumored that the current wands should work with the new Harry Potter wand experiences. But, it may offer a limited experience as it relates to the want itself. For now, we’ll have to wait to find out if and how the current wands could be impacted.
But for now, Universal Orlando hasn’t waved its official wand over these updates yet, so let’s keep our eyes peeled for their confirmation.
The Future is Magical
Looking ahead, the third Wizarding World area set to open with Universal’s Epic Universe in 2025 promises even more interactive wand displays built with these new wands in mind. According to Jim Hill of Jim Hill Media, it would make sense for Universal to update the existing experiences for both continuity of experience, as well as, testing the technology before Epic Universe opens. Similar to how we’ve seen Universal roll out the facial recognition technology in the current parks.
So, keep your wands ready, Potterheads! The Wizarding World at Universal Orlando is gearing up for an enchanting future, and we can’t wait to see what magical experiences await.
