What Upgrades to the Country Bear Jamboree Could We See?

Hey there, Disney vacationers! Have you heard the latest buzz about the Country Bear Jamboree? With just a little over a week left before we bid farewell to the current version of this beloved show, there’s some exciting news to share. Walt Disney Imagineering is gearing up for a major systems update, and it’s all about bringing a fresh, new vibe to the Grizzly Hall! Let’s take a look at what upgrades to the Country Bear Jamboree we could see.

Here’s the scoop: Disney has filed a permit for brand new audio/visual equipment at the Country Bear Jamboree show building. And guess who’s handling this high-tech makeover? None other than InterAmerica Stage, Inc., a name that’s pretty much synonymous with Disney magic. These folks have been behind countless installations for Disney, sprucing up attractions and shows left and right.

Now, mark your calendars because starting January 27th, the Country Bear Jamboree is taking a little break. But don’t worry, it’s all for a fantastic reason. The Imagineers are hard at work transforming the show into something even more spectacular – the Country Bear Musical Jamboree. And guess what? Our favorite bear cast is coming back, but this time they’ll be belting out new tunes from the Disney songbook. How cool is that?

The grand reopening is set for sometime this summer, though Disney’s keeping the exact date under wraps for now. But here’s what we do know: the new show is going to be a heartfelt nod to those Opry-style shows straight out of Nashville. And for all you eagle-eyed fans, keep an eye out for easter eggs scattered throughout the show, including a special nod to one of the current songs.

But wait, there’s more! The bears are going to take us on a musical journey through various country music genres – think bluegrass, pop-country, Americana, rockabilly, and more. It’s like a country music festival, but with bears!

This whole idea of a musical revamp isn’t exactly new, though. Way back in 2004, former Imagineer Ethan Reed first pitched this concept. It resurfaced in 2018 but had to be put on hold in 2020 (thanks, COVID-19). And while Disney hasn’t officially confirmed it, there’s a buzz that the Audio-Animatronics might get an upgrade too during this downtime.
