Joining the Virtual Queue for Moana’s Journey of Water Soft Openings at EPCOT: A Helpful Guide
Exciting news for all you Disney fans out there! The much-anticipated Journey of Water – Inspired by Moana is all set to make a splash at EPCOT, with soft openings leading up to the grand opening on October 16th. And here’s the scoop – during these soft opening days, you’ll have a chance to explore this self-guided nature trail, but it won’t be an ‘anytime, anywhere’ deal. Disney World is keeping us guessing with their exact schedule, but no worries, I’m here to help you navigate the magical waters.
In a twist, there’s a possibility that guests might need to join a Virtual Queue to experience the interactive gardens. Don’t fret; I’ve got your back on how to make that happen.
Step 1: Check If Virtual Queue is Required
First things first, you’ll need the My Disney Experience app, your trusty sidekick in all things Disney. Once you’re in the app, make your way over to the Virtual Queue page. Easy, right? Now, select the “EPCOT” tab – it’s your gateway to aquatic adventures.
Scroll down a bit until you see the “Special Events” section. There, you’re on the lookout for the golden ticket: the “Join Queue” button. If it’s shining like the heart of Te Fiti, or if there’s a message saying that the Virtual Queue is currently closed, you’ll know that standby isn’t an option. The journey continues.
Step 2: Dive into the Queue
- On the app’s homepage, scroll down to the Virtual Queue section.
- Click on “Join Virtual Queue.”
- Find your way to the “EPCOT” tab.
- Hunt for that golden “Join Virtual Queue” button or the right wording under “Journey of Water soft open.”
Virtual Queue Restrictions
Now, let’s talk rules – because we’re playing in Disney’s playground, after all. The only restriction that Disney World has shared is this: you must be inside EPCOT to join the Virtual Queue. So, before you start dreaming about your watery journey, make sure you’ve tapped into EPCOT to satisfy the Virtual Queue system.
During the Annual Passholder previews, there were some extra restrictions, such as Disney Park Pass limitations. As of now, though, there’s no official word that these restrictions are still in place. In plain black and white, this means that even if you’re park hopping to EPCOT or you’re a Passholder heading in after 2 pm, you should still be eligible to dive into the Virtual Queue.
Moana Journey of Water Standby
In case you’re not quite ready to embrace the Virtual Queue, there’s good news. A standby line might be your ticket to the journey you’ve been longing for. If demand doesn’t call for a Virtual Queue or if all the lucky explorers have been processed, you’ll get your chance via standby.
To check if the standby line is open for business, you have a couple of options. You can chat with a friendly Cast Member at the entrance to the attraction – they’re always there to help. If you’re more tech-savvy, you can expect to find information on the My Disney Experience app. Just look out for something that sounds like the screenshot below from Passholder previews:
“Annual Passholders may head directly to Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana, and join the standby queue. Virtual Queue is not required at this time.”
